City Soul Bus

Vehicle design for City Soul — a Bushwick-based artist collective that brings DJ sets and street parties to the people via a converted short school bus. The bus was built by Eric Coolidge at Eagle Rock Steel. Brendan designed the actuating roof in 3D and installed the hydraulics that make it open and close.

City Soul started with a simple premise — take a short school bus, deck it out with a proper sound system and DJ booth, and bring the party directly to the streets. The collective embodies diversity, inclusion, and equality, turning any sidewalk into a dance floor.

What began as weekly Saturday street parties through the warmer months quickly attracted the attention of NYC's broader music community. City Soul has partnered with some of the city's most respected venues and collectives — Elsewhere, House of Yes, SILO, Jupiter Disco, Soul in the Horn, Wonderville, and The Lot Radio — while showcasing dozens of local, national, and international DJs including BLOND:ISH, Hatiras, Sebb Junior, Karmina Dai, and Soul Summit.

Times Square — February 2023

The bus hit a new level when The Lot Radio tapped City Soul to host Skrillex, Fred again.., and Four Tet for a surprise B2B2B set in Times Square — an hour-long pop-up performance the night before their sold-out Madison Square Garden show. Thousands filled the intersection at short notice.
